Frequently Asked Questions
Many students and parents have questions coming into the the band program as a Freshman or a transfer. Please contact us if you have further questions.
Q: Do I have to take World Geography?
A: No, World Geography is an elective just like Band, Chours, or Art. It is recommended, though NOT required.
Q: What class do I need to take?
A: If you have had Middle School Band, Concert II/Symphonic Band (6th period)
Percussion (3rd period, Int. Band)
If you have never taken Band, either beg. band class will be sufficient.
Q: How much are Band fees?
A: $300, which includes the Fall appareal, Fall transportaion and any meals given before games.
Q: When are Band fees due?
A: First Day of Band Camp, July 29, 2007
Q: Is there a fee for my parents to join the Booster organization?
A: Yes, there is a $10 annual fee
Q: When is Band Camp?
A: July29-Aug 3, 2007 with New Marchers Camp July 27 and 28 from 7-12p
Q: What is the "Morris Brown Camp"?
A: The Metro Atlanta Summer Band Camp is a camp centered around developing the basics of show style marching. It is highly recommended for students to attend this camp the last week of June.
Q: Can I be in Marching Band and not Symphonic Band?
A: No. It is important for students to gain the understanding of music through taking the Band class.
Q:Can I be in Symphonic band and not Marching Band?
A: Yes. The Fall is heavily centered around the Marching Band, though there are a couple of conerts that involve the Concert II and Symphonic Bands.
Q: Can I play Football and be in the Band?
A: No. At this time, the scheduling of the two conflicts greatly.
Q: Can I participate in a Spring sport (soccer, golf, cheerleading, track, volleyball) and be in the Band?
A: Yes. Even though Band has no season and is a year- round activity, Directors and Coaches have an agreement to share students 50/50.
Q: Do I have to go to Band Camp?
A: Yes. If you plan to be in the Band, Marching or Symphonic, you will benefit from Band Camp.
Q:Is there a rental fee for school instruments?
A: Yes. $30/ semester for all Brass and Percussion. The school does not provide small instruments, such as flutes, clarinets, and alto saxophones.
Q: Do our Band Fees include the Spring trip?
A: No. The Band plans to go to Memphis, Birmingham and the Dominican Republic next year. Band Fees cover the cost of food for football games, local trip transportation, and uniform cleaning though does not cover the cost of the "big" trip in the Spring.
