MHS Marching Mustangs

MISSION: It is the mission of the Band to educate students through musicianship and leadership, by developing model musicians and citizens to become positive role models for the future.

About The Band. . .

Meadowcreek High School Band has continued to be a Band of Excellence since its existence in 1986. Students at Meadowcreek consist of more than 90 countries and its band represents that diversity. During the opening of the school year, 2004-2005, the Meadowcreek High School Band was marked as the first show- style band in Gwinnett County. Pride, Dedication, and Motivation create the Band of Excellence you see before you. The Mighty Marching Mustangs are combined with the newly formed "Sassy Sapphire Dancers" under the direction of Mrs. Richelle Kirkland and Kin Scott. Students at Meadowcreek also have the opportunity to participate in several ensembles including The Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Pep Band, and our newly formed music technology class. This past year alone, we have participated in the Southern Heritage Classic and High School Battle of Bands in Memphis, TN, The Atlanta Classic Parade of Excellence in Atlanta, Ga and The Magic City Classic Parade in Brimingham, Al.  The Mighty Marching Mustangs were featured in The Clark-Atlanta Homecoming Parade, whose band was in the Movie “Drum Line.”  The Mighty Marching Mustangs continued to represent the Norcross and Atlanta Metro Area in its participation in the Garden City Invitational in Augusta, Ga and the Lilburn Christmas Parade in Lilburn, Ga. The year ended with an invitation to the 2007 Chick-fil-A Bowl Game Half-time show and Parade.   The two schools that feed into Meadowcreek are Lilburn Middle under the direction of Ms. Sherry Lambert and Radloff Middle under the direction of Ms. Amanda Hertel. Meadowcreek has instilled Pride, Dedication, and Motivation throughout the program, which makes it second to none.

The recent MHS Awards and Accomplishments include:

  • 1st place Drum Major in the High School Battle of Bands (Memphis, TN)
  • 2nd place Overall in the High School Battle of Bands (Memphis, TN)
  • 1st place Percussion in the Viewer’s Choice Battle of Bands (Chattanooga, TN)
